“We’re very excited to celebrate Hawai’i’s amazing talent and felt it was important to take the competition to the next level with live performances,” shares Pu’unui Wong, HI93 Oahu on-air personality, contest series host, and judge. Wong continued to share his enthusiasm about the contest, “Luckily no one has called me Uncle yet, but it’s been so exciting to spotlight young local talent and create new opportunities right here in Hawai’i. Across our multiple radio stations throughout the islands, we’re honored to be the people’s stations and provide a platform for undiscovered artists.”

Contestants from the first half of the competition have included a great cross-section of our community – from 14-year-old MJ Fuata, whose mother missed the birth of her grandchild while performing with MJ; to Hazel-Rose Nahienaena, an MMA fighter and pageant queen in the Worlds Beautiful Miss Pageant.

Digital assets capturing the essence of these vibrant performances thus far can be found here and blog posts with more in-depth information about each contestant can be found here.

This contest has been made possible through the collaboration of Pacific Media Group’s radio stations, including KQMQ – HI93 Oahu, KLHI – HI92 Maui, KSRF – HI95 Kauai, and KAPA-FM Hawaii Island. The support of our sponsors including HI Finest, Southwest Airlines, Roberts Hawaii and The SurfJack Hotel & Swim Club has been instrumental in bringing these talented individuals together from across the Hawaiian islands.
