HAWAIʻI ISLAND

Emergency Programs

Goodwill Hawaii has launched an emergency voucher program to support Big Island residents in need of clothing or home goods; vouchers can be redeemed at any Goodwill store on island.

Impacted residents can register for a $100 Goodwill voucher per individual or up to $300 per family at any of the Hawaiʻi Island distribution sites listed below. The vouchers will be valid until November 30, 2026.

MAUI

Charging Locations and Shelters

  • On Monday, Aug. 17, a charging station with WiFi and shelter open at Eddie Tam Memorial Center, 931 Makawao Ave., Makawao in Upcountry.
  • Shelters provide cots, food and water but other essential items and bedding need to be brought. Pets are also allowed if secured in crates or cages.

    • Four tanks at 1222 Olinda Road
    • One at Pi’iholo Road
    • Two at Ehu Road
    • One at Alaluana Road

OAHU

Seeking Donations

In the wake of Hurricane Lala, Capitol Modern and MORI by Art+Flea, in partnership with Our Hawaiʻi, Vibrant Hawaiʻi, and Representative Jeanné Kapela, are urgently collecting supplies to support families and communities on Hawaiʻi Island and in Waiʻanae.

  • Collecting donations to be delivered by Friday, 8/21 but accepting donations now through Saturday, 8/22 from 10am to 3pm to prepare for a future delivery.
  • Capitol Modern, 250 S. Hotel St., First Floor

Charging Locations

  • The U.S. Army Garrison Hawaiʻi announced generators are in place at the DFAC Bistro, Kaena Community Center and Wheeler Community Center so community members can charge phones and other electronic devices.
  • Residents are asked to bring their own charging cables and adapters.

Pet Assistance

  • Hawaiian Humane Society’s Mōʻiliʻili Campus is fully open.
  • The Kosasa Family Campus will be open for emergency services only.
  • If you lost or found a pet during the storm, you can file a Lost or Found Pet Report here.

*VOLUNTEER SAFETY NOTICE: The water, mud and debris may contain bacteria, sewage, pesticides, sharp objects, etc. For your safety, this is not optional: closed-toe boots (no slippers/sandals), gloves ( heavy-duty if possible), clothing that covers your skin, antibacterial cream/ointment for any cuts/exposure. If you have any open wounds, please take extra precautions or consider helping in safer ways.

OAHU

Hawaiʻi Foodbank

  • Now, more than ever, people are facing food insecurity and counting on Hawaiʻi Foodbank. Volunteers are one of the most integral pillars of their operational framework, and they need the help of groups and individuals to provide access to food for families, kūpuna, keiki and other individuals who are facing hunger.

FUND DONATIONS:

Aloha United Way

  • Aloha United Way has activated its 211 Disaster Response to support disaster response and recovery efforts for individuals and families, as well as nonprofit organizations serving on the front lines to respond to the catastrophic storm events that have impacted thousands of residents.

American Red Cross

  • The Red Cross and partners are mobilized and bringing relief to people affected by the recent Kona Low Storm. Their priority is to provide comfort, care, and hope to anyone in need.

Hawaiʻi Community Foundation

  • The Stronger Hawai‘i Fund is a dedicated fund designed to support statewide disaster and emergency related preparedness, response, recovery, mitigation, and resilience.

Hawaiʻi Foodbank

  • Tropical Storm Lala has caused severe storm damage, leaving many families displaced and facing a long road to recovery. Lost food and unexpected costs are adding to the strain. Support your community and ‘ohana today to help ensure families can access the food they need. Donate now.

Hawaiʻi Mutual Aid Network

  • A locally based, volunteer run organization built around the belief that communities are often best positioned to identify who needs help. For Lala Relief, they are working with community members and partners across Hawaiʻi to identify and verify fundraisers for people directly impacted by the storm.

Lāhui Foundation

  • The Lāhui Foundation is helping to distribute resources to those directly affected.

The Salvation Army

  •  Working in close partnership with local government agencies and other disaster relief organizations, The Salvation Army is helping communities recover with compassion and coordination.

Hawaiʻi Island United Way

  • Hawaiʻi Island United Way has activated their Community Relief Fund for island residents impacted by flooding, wind damage, and related emergencies

HOPE Services Hawaiʻi Island
