Dr. Roots on HI93 Hawaii’s Local Hits

DR. ROOTS was born and raised on the musically rich island of Maui. Starting at a young age he was exposed to a wide array of musical genres and developed an appreciation for the audible arts. After hearing the album “Bush Doctor” by Peter Tosh, he was hooked on Reggae and more specifically Roots Reggae. He moved to Oahu where he received a BFA from the University of Hawai‘i, getting his first opportunity on air with an hour-long Reggae show in 2004. He now graces Sunday evenings on HI93 with a showcase of classic and contemporary reggae jams. Searching for great music has become a life-long endeavor and he lives by the immortal words of Peter Tosh, “Stand firm or go feed worm!”
